Housing vacancies fell modestly in the first quarter of 2019 to 1.4% from 1.5% in the fourth quarter of 2018 according to the Quarterly Residential Vacancies and Homeownership report released by the U.S. Census Bureau. Similarly, Rental Vacancies (released on the same report as Hosing Vacancies) rose slightly to 7.0% from 6.6% in the 2018Q4. From this report we can conclude that the results are not statistically different from the prior period. We’re basically unchanged – an interesting result considering the strength and volatility we’ve had in New Home Sales and Existing Home Sales.
